Ideation

Developed the concept and idea of Critter Care Co. after reflecting upon the seemingly countless tests to check up on my little rescue beagle mix. After adopting Lyla, she helped me regain control of my life. When I noticed Lyla needed to go outside frequently, I brought it up to my vet so we began testing for conditions in 2020.

Lyla is now diagnosed with protein-losing nephropathy. It’s a type of Kidney disease that requires special food, treats, medication, and testing. While I am thrilled we are treating it early, I am not thrilled about the considerable dent in my paycheck. Sadly, since Lyla now has a known medical condition, we are unable to get pet insurance that covers her due to her “pre-existing condition” which disqualifies her from coverage.

While platforms are utilized to fundraise for pets, I envisioned a future where a community-based company helps pet parents in a way pet insurance would never dare.
